My own original design of the veritable rocking horse - built to be an heirloom for generations to come.

​This is what started it all - my desire to leave behind something that I created for my own children, and that my great great grand children will someday fight over. These horses are built to last for many generations. Other full bodied carved rocking horses sport the traditional Victorial carousel style horse that has been built for centuries, and are all constructed the same way and mounted on an arced sled. Seeking a more Americana/Western feel, I ended up with a complete re-design - opting for a laminated body that is then carved into the horse then mounted onto rockers with 1" dowel supports.  This is truly an original design supported by the first one being built in 1986. Certainly a one of a kind  heirloom and a wonderful decorative addition to many home motifs.

 

My love of labrador retrievers inspired me to make the first rocking labrador! Although the one pictured is no longer for sale, I would love to make a chocolate lab out of walnut or a black lab out of "ebonized" oak - contact me for details and prices!
